Mik Cass writes, "Probably taken in June/July 1967 on Ocean Station Alpha.  At the time I was on the Weather Reporter and the Surveyor was obviously relieving us after our stint on Alpha.  She has her lifeboat swung out ready to bring across mail/papers (2 to 3 days old - but still welcome).

"You will notice that there is a white 'blob' in the balloon shed on the back end which puts the time around 1115-1130 GMT, ready for the midday radiosonde flight.  We on the Reporter would have been mighty pleased that the time of handover meant that we escaped that task!"
