I am most grateful to Jan Jorissen of Arie Rijsdijk - Boss En Zonen for the above photograph of ex-OWS Weather Surveyor alongside the yard at Hendrik-Ido-Ambacht (south-east of Rotterdam in the Netherlands) where she was broken up in 1983. Weather Surveyor is the ship to the right of the photo with the black hull and large white superstructure.
Mr Jorissen has told me that Weather Surveyor's main engine was sold to Germany for restoration, he believes with the ultimate aim of placing it in a museum. However the lack of funds following the fall of "The Wall" might mean the restoration has yet to happen.
