This is the first of two photographs which I have found in my father's album, both of which are undated and with no caption whatsoever. However I now know that both photographs were taken by Doug Thompson - they are published here with his kind permission.

Since originally posting this photograph, I have heard from the daughter of  S.Lt. (E) Colin Eggleston, RNVR, Carol Russell, who confirms her father is 2 on the silhouette below - Carol says she has reason to believe that 11 is "Tim" Williamson (probably H Williamson) who was in the Army.

I have also heard from (former Signalman T.O.) Frank Shipp, who confirms 13 is indeed the Skipper, Lt.Cdr. Colin Warwick, DSC, RNR, and 12 is the Number One, namely my father, Lt. Eric Clubb, RNR.

Frank has also identified 7 as the Signals Officer, Lt. Robert McMullan, RNVR (who was later to become the Number One when my father took command), and 14 as the Navigating Officer,  S.Lt. Alan Weeks, RNR.  Frank believes 3 was the Asdic Officer, so that will presumably be S.Lt. Reginald Billany, RNVR.  In the case of 4 he has this officer down as the Doctor - at first I thought this might be Surgeon Lt. Norman Harris, MRCS, LRCP, RNVR, but it now seems more likely to be Surgeon Lt. William Matheson RNVR.

Frank Shipp is unable to identify the two officers on the extreme right.

It is hard to fathom why there should be so many "men in khaki" on the bridge - Frank Shipp when writing to me said he does remember having a few Army officers on board for a short trip, but he cannot recall why.  I would be grateful if anyone can shed any light on this.

If you can identify any other faces, or have any corrections to suggest, please do so by reference to the numbers on the silhouette.
