Richard Warwick, Colin Warwick's son, has kindly sent me a scan or photocopy of what appears to be part of an old magazine article - the photograph over which the article is written is of Weather Surveyor moored in Fareham Creek.
The particular significance of this document to me is the short article by Jeremy Shaw - does anyone know of Jeremy Shaw? Until now I had thought Weather Surveyor was "scrapped in Germany in 1982".
However Jeremy Shaw writes "... Following conversion at Blyth SB & DD Co Ltd she emerged on 21 December 1961 as the Weather Ship WEATHER SURVEYOR, a role in which she served until 1976. Converted in Manchester for use as a salvage ship at Portsmouth, she was withdrawn from service in 1982 and broken up in the following year by Arie Rijsdijk - Boss En Zonen at Hendrik-Ido-Ambacht."
Hendrik-Ido-Ambacht appears from my map to be close to Rotterdam in the Netherlands. The precise description by Shaw (including the fact that he has correctly noted the date on which the ship was commissioned as Weather Surveyor) inclines me to his version ... so, for me, Weather Surveyor was "scrapped in the Netherlands in 1983" ... coincidentally the same year in which my father, Eric Clubb, died.
